Welcome to Gilestone Farm
Quality Accommodation in the Brecon Beacons
A warm welcome awaits you at our stunning self-catering farmhouse in Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon Beacons, Wales.
Our National Park is 520 square miles of moorland, waterfalls, standing stones and castles dominated by the skyline of the Central Beacons – the highest peaks in southern Britain.
This is a great area for cycling, mountain biking, hiking, water sports, golf, mountain activities, caving, exploring nature and star-gazing.
Gilestone Farm is perfect accommodation for large groups. It is situated only a couple of minutes by car from the A40 trunk road but is wonderfully peaceful, being set among its own farmland, well-away from all traffic.
The house at Gilestone is remarkably tranquil – several hundred metres along a tree-lined private driveway, away from the public road and surrounded by its own farmland.
Hill-top Iron Age settlements, Bronze Age burial cairns and Roman roads surround us. The modern-day village of Talybont grew around the Brecon & Monmouthshire canal, the railway (now closed) and the two rivers which run by the village.
The village of Talybont on Usk is a hub for mountain biking and walking – the Taff Trail passes right through the village and Bike Park Wales is a short distance away.
There’s plenty going on in the village of Talybont – three dog-friendly pubs, a country restaurant, a café, a post office, a playground, a well-stocked shop and an interesting crafts gallery. Talybont is a leisurely ten minute walk from Gilestone along the canal towpath – perfect for a morning stroll to collect the papers, or an evening trip to the pub!
Even though we are only two and a half hours from London Heathrow Airport, two hours from Birmingham and one and a half hours from Bristol, this part of Wales is a designated area of exceptional natural beauty with great opportunities for everyone to enjoy the big outdoors.
