Things To Do in Talybont and the Brecon Beacons
This is a great place to be based for your holiday in the heart of the stunning Brecon Beacons National park : as active as you want | as peaceful as you need.
For a small place there’s plenty to do in and around the village.
There’s a canal, two rivers, a reservoir, hills, woods, waterfalls, wildlife, local arts & crafts, a village shop with cafe, playground with ‘trim trail’, as well as four good pubs. Talybont even boasts its own fascinating history from the Iron Age to the Industrial Revolution.
Talybont is designated as a mountain bike, walking and adventure activity hub. Energetic visitors can enjoy hiking, road cycling, mountain biking or canoeing. Gilestone is accredited to the Cyclists & Walkers Welcome scheme and we have extensive facilities, equipment and information for your active holiday – whatever the weather. To relax there are gentle rides or strolls along the pretty canal towpath to our adjacent villages, bird watching, fishing, visiting the reservoir or simply sitting in the sun sipping locally brewed beer and chatting to the locals. We boast some of the darkest night skies for star- gazing. On clear nights you can see the Milky Way with your naked eye.
Lots more local information is available on our village website
